Middle of the week.  Plenty has happened, but on a Wednesday my head is mostly stuck on French and delusions of grandeur about personal projects.

Oh, hey, here's another cat.  Meow.

'Holy crap, I'm in Paris!'

The realization never really hit head-on. It just sort of...occurs to me in little bits every few days.

I rode a bike along the Seine tonight to get home from a friend's place. It was a nice change from subway hopping; the city is quite beautiful at night when you can pass through freely. I also wanted to see if the vélib' could be a feasible alternative in the future to rushing from places to catch the métro (which closes at 12:30am), and apparently it is.

I stopped for a moment and took the above picture from the bike. Thanks again to Mom and Dad for the new point+shoot camera - I wouldn't have been able to take half of the pictures I have so far without it.

On the way home from a jazz club, we met a young Parisian man in the subway.
We talked about American politics.
He asked us the meaning of the term 'pimped-out', so we tried to explain it to him as best we could.

Greetings from 6 hours in the future.

In case you haven't heard, I'm about 3628 miles of fish away from my usual dwellings at the moment. I'll use this space to document the goings-on of my time in Paris; not too different from the usual journal routine, but I wanted to set this stuff aside so that it remains a separate entity when it's all said and done.

To make up for lost time, I've put together a gallery that pretty much sums up (as best as possible) what the first few weeks were about here.
