Searching For Mother is a conceptual search engine by Erika deVries, the creation of which I assisted in. Clicking one of the of investigative words (who, what, where, when, why, or how) along the top of the page will display a recently posted tweet, photo, or blog post that could answer the question in regards to “mother”. From Erika’s statement:
“This internet language based artist’s project was born out of an awareness of the word mother in nearly every public and private context I experience. From bathroom walls to skin, gravestones, greeting cards, engravings, illuminated manuscripts, and crayon drawings the word mother is held high, low, in between, to question, to hate and to heart.”
Note: when Twitter disabled their old API as of June 2013, it broke the application’s ability to retrieve tweets.
