New Year’s resolutions: 2010-2015

In lieu of a New Year’s resolution, which are for suckers, here’s a list I’ve been contemplating of things I would like to get a chance to do in the next, let’s say, 5 years. But hopefully in far less time.

1. Expand on the work I started with my senior thesis projects. Blur the creature/machine line further. Build something that can self-improve over an indefinite period of time. Make Himhim less stupid.

2. Work on a game.

3. Put together an album(‘s worth) of the best music I find I’m able to make.

4. Shoot a short film or music video, possibly but not necessarily in connection with #3.

5. Direct the creation of a light/multimedia show to accompany a live music performance, possibly but not necessarily in connection with #3.

6. Have photos published in a book that’s not entirely my own creation.

7. Build a decent portfolio of web sites/web applications.

8. Work with a set designer/director to orchestrate technical effects for a theater production.

On another note, remember the Vacation Photos assignment I posted about awhile back that seemed to pop out of existence as quickly as it came into it? Well, one person actually did it last summer, and I’ve just been putting off mentioning anything about it until now.

My friend Rose went on a road trip though Effingham, Illinois with some fellow travelers and a disposable camera, and this is what they came up with. If you can’t remember what the assignment was all about, or if you’d still like to do it and send me something, the original instructions page is still up.

Happy 2010. Let’s start planning our 2012 mega-party now. Question is, which party should be bigger, the one we have on December 21st, or the one we have on December 22nd?
